2022 Fundraising

Direct Appeal:

This is our most important fundraising program. Ask your friends and family to support us. We need your help in collecting the contact information for your friends and family and providing it to your player.  Players can send emails or mail letters. We have found it most effective to have players list the friends and family who will receive the letter in advance. This helps us organize the campaign, track player progress and distribute thank you letters. Our goal for the Direct Appeal is $10,000. That’s about $200 per player.

  • By, Friday, February 4, go to this online document, click on the link next to your player’s name, and add email and/or mailing addresses for friends and family who should receive the donation request.

  • Checks are mailed to Grant High School Men’s Lacrosse, PO Box 13205, Portland, Oregon 97213

  • After donations are received, the club will send thank you letters and emails to all donors

Every season, our fundraising efforts are important. But this year, it is absolutely critical. Following two years of COVID-19, and in a year when we had to purchase new uniforms, our expenses are higher than normal and our bank account is relatively low. Following are factors in our current financial position:

  • 2020: As the pandemic started taking hold, the season was canceled. We ceased all fundraising events. Towards the end of 2020, the coaches started preparing for the 2021 season with preseason workouts and practices.

  • 2021: With the uncertainty of how the season would transpire, we decided to limit our ask for outside financial support from friends, family and corporate sponsors. While we were fortunate to play nearly a full season in which we finished ranked 6th in the state, the operating expenses were nearly that of a normal season

  • With the pandemic, we decided to defer the purchase of much-needed new uniforms. With nearly 50 players this coming season, we not only do not have enough uniforms for all of our players, we also have a mix of different styles and colors of the uniforms for our Varsity and JV teams, some with duplicate numbers.

  • As you may know, Grant Lacrosse does not receive any funds from Grant High School or Portland Public Schools.  As it is a club sport, we must cover all expenses including uniforms, fields, coaches, trainers, and officials.  We each pay dues of $450 but the cost per player is $950.  We have fundraisers throughout the year, but need your help to meet the expenses and provide fee assistance.

Dear (Family or Friend Name),

This year, I’m playing with the Grant Men’s Lacrosse.  2022 will be our first full season in three years. We start practices soon and will work hard to achieve our goal of reaching the playoffs and going for the state title.

Grant Lacrosse is not funded by the school or district.

As a club sport, families must cover all expenses including fields, coaches, trainers, and officials.  And this year, we purchased new uniforms for the whole team. We each pay dues of $450 (we offer scholarships to those who need it), but the real total cost per player is $950.

We host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year.  Today, we’re asking our friends and family for their support. Please consider making a donation to Grant Men’s Lacrosse Club.
