2023 Fundraising
Direct Appeal:
Dear Grant Lacrosse Players and Parents,
Today we’re kicking off the Direct Appeal. This is our most efficient and effective fundraising program. And it’s pretty simple: we’re asking our friends and family to support GMLC. Our goal for the Direct Appeal is $10,000. That’s about $200 per player.
Here’s how it works:
-
By Monday, February 27, go to the Google Sheet that we emailed you on February 22 (after the Teams call) with a list of all player names. On the sheet, click on the link next to your player’s name. On first tab, add email and/or mailing addresses for friends and family who should receive the donation request. We have found this to be the most effective way to organize fundraising and make the process easier for our players to follow.
-
If your son played last year and you provided donor contact info, your contacts from last year will be listed.
-
On the 2nd tab toward the bottom is a record of your contacts who donated last year and how much.
-
On the 3rd tab is a sample email or letter that your son can copy and paste. We will also email a sample letter to you, and post it to our website.
-
-
Send emails, letters or call to encourage your friends and family to submit donations:
-
Online at https://www.granthslacrosse.com/letter. On this page, donors will:
i. Enter the amount they want to contribute
ii. Enter their contact information
iii. Select your player’s name from the drop-down menu (so we can credit him with the donation),
then Submit.
iv. Receive an email with thank you and receipt with GLMC’s tax info
2. By Check, made out to Grant Men’s Lacrosse, mailed to Grant High School Men’s Lacrosse, PO Box
13205, Portland, Oregon 97213. Ask your friends and family to include your player’s name
3. By Friday, March 10, send a reminder to anyone on your list who has not yet donated.

After donations are submitted, donors receive a digital receipt with a thank you and all required tax information. For checks that are mailed in, we will send a physical letter.
As donations are received, we will add them to your player’s tracking sheet so you can see who has donated, and to whom you need to send reminders.
The Direct Appeal will end on Friday, March 17.

The player who raises the most total funds, and the player with the most individual donations, will receive a cool prize.

Dear (Family or Friend Name),
This year, I’m playing with the Grant Men’s Lacrosse. We start practices soon and will work hard to achieve our goal of reaching the playoffs and going for the state title.
Grant Lacrosse is not funded by the school or district. As a club sport, families must cover all expenses including fields, coaches, trainers, and officials. And this year, we purchased new uniforms for the whole team. We each pay dues of $450 (we offer scholarships to those who need it), but the total cost per player is $950.
We host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year. Today, we’re asking our friends and family for their support. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Grant Men’s Lacrosse Club.
